How To Make A Backpacking Website

I built this backpacking website in the space of a few weeks (made possible by a lack of a job). Prior to August of 2004 I had never built a website. Then I struggled through a few, such as EverythingAboutTravel.com and EverythingAboutMoney.info, befor e trying the "Site Build It" system.

SBI shows You how to optimize a site, so it will actually be found by people when they use search engines (something that hasn't happened with my other sites). If You arrived here by way of Google or another search engine, I guess it's working. I have mixed feelings about SBI. Ken Evoy wrote one of the best books on building a website that I've seen, but his SBI is not as easy to use as he claims. Maybe it's just my lack of experience. Not sure yet.

I can see that the web hosting part has some real advantages, and the whole package does come with a money-back guarantee, so he seems to have some faith in his system. One thing I do like is that he stresses the value of doing a site that You enjoy, hence this ultralight backpacking website. I will let You know how I feel about SBI after a few months, when I see if the site is working and getting traffic. In the meantime, You can click here if You are interested in what exactly the Site Build It system is.

The Ultralight Backpacking Web Site Starts To Work

January 22, 2005: The site was fully functional on 11/01/04, but traffic was slow. Now, finally, after re-writing the entire site, and submitting it to every directory I could find, the traffic has increased dramatically. There is even a little income now. I am still having technical problems from time to time with SBI, but overall the system seems to be working. I'll update this page again in a month or two.

By the way, my links to two of my previous sites above are almost embarrassing now. Those two, by the way, after being there for almost five months, get virtually no traffic. So much for the "build it and they will come" philosophy.

I Give Up On SBI

April 24, 2005: I give up. Traffic is growing slowly, but I have two sites I started without the help of SBI that are doing better ( http://www.IncreaseBrainPower.com , and http://www.TheMeditationSite.com ). I just can't find enough value in what I get from SBI. I know from the stories I read that SBI really works for some, but it didn't for me. Maybe I expect too much in six months, but then in less time than that, www.increasebrainpower.com is doing three times the traffic as this site.

October, 2006: This thing is finally making a few hundred dollars a month. for tunately it is one of dozens of web sites we have now. If You want to learn how I finally got traffic to this and all my other sites, You can find out here: http://www.999articles.com
